Pelion was chosen after several studies and projects as the first option to live and retire under the sun. Pelion fulfilled most but not all requirements of the searches which involved an area of natural and unspoiled beauty and organic growth; an area of spectacular scenery and uninterrupted south facing views; the search also required air, road and rail access, nearby administrative and commercial center as well as health and safety facilities in few words an idyllic, peaceful environment. Many of the pros and cons are referred to in the SWOT analysis.
The Organic Olive and Olive oil cultivation began in 2006 and involved an enormous effort of clearing neglected fields, erecting and repairing retaining stone walls and providing road access in each field, as well as, planting of new species of olive trees. Alexander used the principle and experience of his wine growing and producing in France of blending varieties of plant and fruit according to soil and climate tolerance.
Our Aims and Principles are fully in line with those of the World and EU Organic Growing Organisations. Our Objectives are to become the precursors as well as innovators in the olive oil production.
